Throwback Thursday!

Today's Printpack Elgin campus opened in 1965, a new state-of-the-art modern facility featuring an engineered "Product Line Layout" to provide the best efficiencies possible.

It was built by Standard Packaging Corporation, founded in 1919, one of the most fully, vertically integrated firms in the packaging industry. The firm owned its own pulp, paper and foil mills, and produced numerous products at factories around the country from that raw material such as printed film, paper, and foil products, cartons, metalized materials, paper dishes, paper and plastic linings, playing and greeting cards, mail products, and many other packaging and goods. Eugene J. Trandel was the general manager of the Flexible Packaging Division plant in Elgin, IL.

Our campus became part of the Printpack family when J. Erskine Love, Jr. strategically acquired it from Standard Packaging Corporation in 1978.

Thank you to Elizabeth Marston, director of the Elgin History Museum, for providing us with this photo and information. https://elginhistory.org/
