El Segundo Police Department

This morning, members of the El Segundo Police Department joined fellow law enforcement officers and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) recruits for the annual memorial run honoring Deputy David S. Piquette’s life, service, and sacrifice.

On July 7, 2006, Deputy Piquette, a dedicated 10-year veteran of LASD, was driving to the academy on the 91 Freeway when an unsecured stove fell from a pickup truck into the roadway. As he swerved to avoid the stove, his vehicle collided with a cement truck. Deputy Piquette sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

Twenty years later, we continue to remember, honor, and never forget Deputy Piquette’s service and sacrifice.
