Heavy rainfall over the last several days has made life even more difficult for hundreds of thousands of displaced people in the Gaza Strip, according to United Nations agencies.

UNICEF spokesperson Jonathan Crickx told the BBC that conditions overnight were extremely severe. He said the rainfall was so heavy that water levels reached nearly 15 centimeters around areas close to his office.

He expressed deep concern for children living in tents and temporary shelters, warning that being exposed to cold and wet conditions puts them at serious risk of hypothermia and other illnesses.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry reported that one infant has died due to hypothermia, while at least 11 others lost their lives after buildings collapsed as a result of the intense weather.
