Joint Statement | Five Years Since the Enactment of the Yazidi Survivors Law (YSL)
Five years after Iraq enacted the YSL , a landmark reparations program for survivors of ISIS atrocities, progress is visible. Yet, major gaps remain in delivering full reparations, rehabilitation, and justice for Yazidi women and other survivors.
Forty civil society organizations worldwide acknowledge these achievements while urging the Iraqi government to ensure fair review and appeal procedures and deliver all reparations guaranteed under the law in line with international standards. They also call on the international community to support survivor-centered implementation and ensure accessibility of evidence on ISIL crimes to advance accountability.

بعد خمس سنوات على تشريع العراق لقانون الناجيات الإيزيديات وهو برنامج بارز لجبر الضرر للناجين والناجيات من فظائع تنظيم داعش — بات التقدم ملموسًا. ومع ذلك، ما تزال هناك فجوات كبيرة تعيق توفير جبر ضرر شامل، وإعادة تأهيل فعّالة، وتحقيق العدالة للناجيات الإيزيديات وغيرهن من الناجين.
تقرّ 42 منظمة من منظمات المجتمع المدني حول العالم بهذه الإنجازات، وفي الوقت نفسه تحثّ الحكومة العراقية على ضمان إجراءات عادلة وشفافة للمراجعة والطعن، وتنفيذ جميع تدابير جبر الضرر المكفولة بموجب القانون بما ينسجم مع المعايير الدولية. كما تدعو المجتمع الدولي إلى دعم التنفيذ المتمحور حول الناجين، وضمان إتاحة الأدلة المتعلقة بجرائم داعش بما يعزز مسارات المساءلة.

English / کوردی | We are thrilled to announce that the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) has emerged as National Champion of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition – Iraq National Rounds 2026. Congratulations!
On the final day of competition, semi-finalists and finalists demonstrated exceptional legal mastery, arguing complex cases before the judges. The dedication of all 111 participating students throughout the rounds is a powerful reminder that the future of justice in Iraq is in highly capable hands.
Together with our partners at the Kurdistan Bar Association and our generous sponsors, Dayik Group and Dilnia Insurance, we are immensely proud to have hosted this historic event. While AUIB takes home the title, every team should be proud of their remarkable achievement. This year’s competition marks a landmark moment for legal education in Iraq and the wider Middle East.
