A vibrant, tropical painting of a Toucan came in with a lot of “roll” damage. This larger painting was transported in a 2 inch tube, and had severe crackling to the paint. (See images). After hours in my heat press, relaxing the paint itself, I managed to get it flat enough to mount to reinforce it “staying flat.” Then some final touchups, the beautiful stacking frames, and Optium Museum acrylic for protection – this bird is ready to fly home!

Tip: when you travel - if you purchase a Painting, the painting is to be rolled with the front painting side to the outside. That helps stretch the paint, not force it to be reduced and damage the actual paint. Also be sure it’s rolled a bit larger 3-4”. So remember when it’s gonna be rolled - the paint is OUTSIDE for any canvas transportation.

This vintage map of Dubuque, Iowa in 1889 was a gift of appreciation by my customer to his employer. The owner of the company grew up in Dubuque and he wanted to acknowledge his boss’s recent company achievement. This print reproduction, however, came with a unique set of color tones. What was once the brown tones of aged paper, reproduced as something more Almond-y pink! Not finding any complementary Mat tones, and playing around with numerous MOULDING options, this combination complemented the gray tones in the print, as well as a more rustic aged appearance and style. Customer was thrilled – (and I hope his employer was too!)
