Oddmall Officials Worried Visitors Won't Know the Difference Between Their Festival and the Rest of Minerva

MINERVA, OH — As organizers prepare to bring the Oddmall Minerva Monster Mega Mall to downtown Minerva this Saturday, one concern has risen above all the others.

Not parking.

Not the weather.

Not setup.

According to organizers, they're worried visitors won't be able to tell where the Monster Mega Mall ends and Minerva begins.

"We've spent years building Oddmall's reputation as one of Ohio's strangest events," one organizer admitted. "Then we started researching Minerva."

"It was... humbling."

Oddmall returns to North Market Street on Saturday, July 11, from noon until 8:00 p.m., bringing more than 100 artists, makers, crafters, entertainers, food vendors, and creators of wonderfully unusual things to town.

Visitors can expect handcrafted artwork, fantasy-inspired creations, comics, oddities, cosplay, gourmet treats, cryptid-themed attractions, live entertainment, and enough creativity to keep people wandering downtown for hours.

According to organizers, none of that concerns them.

"What concerns us," one organizer explained, "is that we've been told the town already has a famous monster, a giant psychedelic painted cow, and residents who apparently consider all of that completely normal."

The Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce assured organizers that visitors would eventually figure it out.

"Probably."

Longtime resident Karen Smith doesn't understand why anyone is worried.

"We already have Bigfoot sightings, unusual characters, magical genies in lamps, and dinosaurs at the library," Karen said. "Honestly, while Oddmall is in town, it'll probably just feel like a perfectly ordinary Saturday."

Kenneth Smith agreed.

"By about two o'clock," Kenneth predicted, "someone's going to look around, see our merman lifeguard eating a funnel cake, a fairy buying flowers, Bigfoot taking selfies with kids, and a guy selling haunted birdhouses, then shrug and say, 'Yep... Minerva's busy today.'"

Organizers remain optimistic the festival will still stand out.

They're just no longer certain it will be because of the festival.

UPDATE on Stella: she is acting like her usual self and has been enjoying laying in the air conditioning. I'm not sure what happened if it was this extreme heat or she just didn't want to go in the house. But I'm so relieved she is okay. Thank you again to these beautiful souls who were there to help.
