MSU English Language Center - ELC

The ELC hosted Sorari Narimatsu, our first student from Kumamoto University, for a 3 week program in March. Sorari made the most of her time at MSU, studying in the Intensive English Program, exploring the community and making lots of friends. We'll miss you Sorari!

The ELC was so happy to have a visit from Emma Ina early this week. Emma is a Nagoya City University student who studied at the ELC in 2023. Emma has been visiting graduate schools and meeting up with old friends like Braden Vibber, an MSU student who she met through the Japanese English Language Exchanges.

Smith Center and Munn Ice Arena Tour

Students from the ELC were treated to two separate tours last week. The group first toured the Clara Bell Smith Center where they watched MSU Athletes training in their various sports from baseball to field hockey. From there, the students stopped by the original Sparty Statue in Spartan Stadium. After visiting this iconic statue, the students were able to tour the Munn Ice Arena where they looked over the ice from within the home team’s bench. Special thanks to MSU Athletics for providing such amazing tours!

CAL Promotion Reception-SS26

On February 11, 2026, the 2025 Promotion & Reappointment Reception was held in the Lincoln Room at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.

The reception honored all Fixed-Term Faculty, Health Programs Faculty, MSU College of Law Faculty, FRIB/NSCL, MSU Extension, MSU Librarians, and Academic Specialists. This year, the ELC was well represented with 9 faculty members achieving the highest ranks in their respective appointments. Here is the complete list of honorees:
