Happy Fall Equinox!
Can you believe everyone on earth, from the bees, to penguins, to polar bears to you and me will have the same amount of daylight as nighttime? Such a great time to reflect on how balance our lives are. What is in balance? What needs some revising to be more in balance?
At Coyote Conscience, we celebrate the earth’s revolution around the sun with a wheel with the four cardinal directions and four ordinal directions. We leave a piece of art in nature, only using things from nature. It is fun to think of who might find it and how much of it will be left. It is a practice of noticing and impermanence.

Coyote Club has been such a journey! It all started over 5 years ago offering a free program where I allowed myself to unlearn everything I thought being an educator and learning was. To allowing students to lead the lessons while I mainly guided social interactions. I was unsure on how much to guide. I feel like kids are constantly being told what to do, and I wanted to offer them a space to do what they wanted to in the wild.
Now, it feels like a new chapter has started. As a team, we are planning once a month: pizza and planning. In March/April we had fairies warn us of a troll coming at the end of the month. They wanted to pollute the river and forest. We made bows and arrows and hunted the trolls. It was so much fun! I am loving having a structure to Coyote Club with lots of imagination and fairies leading the activities!
I am moving away from didactic teaching and these monthly meetings feel like a great balance to offer some fun activities that feel organic and not led by me.
We acknowledge the land we do our programs as the traditional territory of the Nuwe and Numu people. We honor and respect the enduring relationship that exists between these peoples and this land.

What is Coyote Club?
We offer a time during the busy week where kids can be kids. They can have unstructured time to play with friends in wild places. We mentor them, talk with them individually and as a group. We listen to their hopes and dreams and create a space where they can explore them. We give gentle guidance on what it looks like to be respectful to each other, themselves, and their environment.
This is all done following the natural flow of the day. We start with gratitude and welcoming, explore and play by the Boise River and finally come back to a story or sharing each other’s favorite part of the day.
We would love to have 2-3 more kids join us at Coyote Club.
Let us know if you are interested!
