This Saturday, nearly 30 youth in ISLA Impacta — ISLA’s youth leadership and social impact program — participated in mindfulness, wellness, and coping skills sessions rooted in ancestral Latin American healing practices. Session facilitated by
Students strengthened their leadership, advocacy, and Spanish language skills while building community and purpose. Each youth also received a wellness toolkit to support their mental health and well-being at home.
With the support of the Durham Youth Leadership Fund, ISLA Impacta continues advancing the voices of our youth by returning power, leadership, and decision-making back to Latino communities — all fully in Spanish.

Este sábado, casi 30 jóvenes de ISLA Impacta — el programa de liderazgo juvenil e impacto social de ISLA — participaron en sesiones de mindfulness, bienestar y herramientas de afrontamiento basadas en prácticas ancestrales de sanación latinoamericana.
Los estudiantes fortalecieron sus habilidades de liderazgo, abogacía y desarrollo del idioma español mientras construían comunidad y propósito. Además, cada joven recibió un kit de bienestar y salud mental para apoyar su bienestar emocional y mental en su vida diaria.
Con el apoyo de Durham Youth Leadership Fund, ISLA Impacta continúa impulsando las voces de nuestra juventud al devolver el poder, el liderazgo y la toma de decisiones a las comunidades latinas — todo completamente en español.

This past Saturday, and kicked off a series of digital literacy workshops — and it was only the beginning. Supported by the Kramden Institute, families showed up, learned, got hands-on with technology, and walked away with a computer.
The digital divide is real — and together, we're closing it. Because every family deserves the tools and skills to thrive in today's world.

Este sábado pasado, ISLA y Juntos por la Educación dieron inicio a una serie de talleres de alfabetización digital — y esto es solo el comienzo. Con el apoyo del Kramden Institute, las familias llegaron, aprendieron, y pusieron manos a la obra con la tecnología y se fueron con una computadora.
La brecha digital es real — y juntos, la estamos cerrando. Porque cada familia merece las herramientas y el conocimiento para salir adelante en el mundo de hoy.

Community, let us introduce you to our amazing Pre-Kinder 3 assistant, Antonia.
Antonia is deeply passionate about teaching, playing, and sharing her love for the Spanish language and Latin American culture with our youngest learners. Through her dedication and care, she helps create a nurturing and joyful environment where our little ones can thrive.
She has been part of the ISLA community for quite some time, and her work consistently creates circles of joy, affirmation, and belonging for our children.
