Have you heard about the history of Raspberry Ridge? As we get ready to celebrate our 30th year of camp, here's a little bit about how Raspberry Ridge started....
The dream of Raspberry Ridge began to take shape in 1990 when Jane Stam built her backyard clay tennis court. This idea of a Christian string camp in the Chapel Hill area was fueled by Mary Frances Boyce and Nancy Brooks, both successful Suzuki string teachers. So, when Chip and Doris Stam moved back to town with an eagerness to teach their love of music, and their interest in integrating authentic Christian faith with artistic expression, these five dedicated individuals merged their passions. Raspberry Ridge: The Chapel Hill String Camp (named for violin strings and tennis strings) was established in the spring of 1992.
