"This ultrasound had been donated to the hospital in January 2023. It was starting to rust, and the main issue was that due to poor design the side door had fallen, disconnecting some main power supply cables. We reconnected them, secured the side door, and ran some tests. [The last third picuture is] from the testing we did on a woman pregnant with twins!" 🤰🏻

Although modern medical equipment is extremely complex, basic challenges continue to prevent proper operation in low-resource hospitals. Issues such as damaged cords, clogged filters, or even blown fuses can result in equipment being stored away or discarded.

Participants on our 2023 Summer Institute in repaired 182 pieces of medical equipment, including this ultrasound machine that had been donated 6 months prior and had previously been unusable.
