For a long time I presented myself the way I thought a “jazz pianist” was supposed to look.
A lot has changed since then. Becoming a parent. The pandemic. A stretch where I couldn’t write and felt stuck. But underneath that, something was shifting: new sounds, new questions, new things I needed to say. The music started opening up.
These photos come from that same place.
Black, shadow, contrast.
Paper scores next to cables and machines.
Another shot - strength holding something impossibly delicate.
White gauze against black.
Masculine and feminine.
Power and tenderness.
That tension, that duality
that’s the music I’m trying to make.
That which cannot be expressed in words.
Last September’s “Shadow Work” music video lives in this same space.
Musicians in a small pool of light, playing against the darkness.
Huge gratitude to for seeing this with me and helping bring it to life with her lens.
This is the direction now. More to come in 2026.
A restless lullaby moving between turbulence and calm — a journey through darkness toward the fragile clarity that comes from facing it.
