Family Connects
06/11/2026
Yesterday, Family Connects joined advocates, community leaders, healthcare professionals, and policymakers at the North Carolina Black Maternal Health Day of Action to raise awareness about the urgent need to improve maternal health outcomes and advance birth equity across our state.
The day focused on elevating the voices and experiences of Black mothers, promoting policies that support healthy pregnancies and postpartum care, and addressing the disparities that continue to impact maternal and infant health in North Carolina. We were honored to meet with over 20 advocates and policymakers, including Rep. Zach Hawkins, Rep. Vernetta Alston, and Senator Natalie Murdock, to discuss the importance of investing in evidence-based programs that connect families with the support and resources they need during the critical postpartum period.
At Family Connects, we believe every family deserves access to the care and support needed to thrive, and we are proud to stand alongside partners working to create healthier futures for mothers, babies, and communities across North Carolina.
