Who's in?
We’re excited to announce that we’re starting an Open Space Steward program! We’re looking for volunteers who can help us monitor and protect the New Hope Creek Bottomlands Trail and the Bottomlands ecosystem. Open Space Stewards will walk the trail on a regular basis and have the opportunity to assist with a variety of projects, including ecological research, trail maintenance, and outreach. This is an excellent way to help care for Durham County's public lands and learn about conservation and land management.
For more information, contact David Bradley, Open Space Specialist, at [email protected] or 919-943-3997.

⚡ Exciting News! ⚡
We are thrilled to announce that Durham County has been selected as 1 of 12 local governments nationwide to receive funding from the Competitive Program! With this funding, Durham, Orange, and Granville counties are joining forces with incredible partners to launch the NC Energy Burden & Emissions Reduction Program (EBERP).
🏠 What’s EBERP all about?
The Program’s priorities are to reduce local energy burden and greenhouse gas emissions through making positive changes in Justice40 communities. We’ll be conducting neighborhood-focused residential energy upgrades to make homes more energy-efficient. Plus, we’ll be offering neighborhood education and workforce training to create new opportunities and skills!
