Phoenix Fest
About Phoenix Fest
When it’s fall, it’s time for Phoenix Fest -- sponsored by Phoenix Crossing and Phoenix Square Shopping Centers. Phoenix Fest is an annual cultural celebration of the business and cultural legacy of Durham’s Hayti community, one of North Carolina’s oldest African American communities. Our mission is promoting cultural understanding through music and business opportunities.

BOBBY HINTON R.I.P
We are saddened at the loss of one of the Triangle's great blues men - Bobby Hinton. Born Frederick Hinton, Bobby Hinton was one of the early supporters and boosters of Phoenix Fest back when the festival was just an idea.
He did triple duty as sound man, talent scout and performer every year until his health began to fail.
He, along with our original crew of Charmey Joy Morgan, Nia Wilson, Bradley Long, Warren Herndon and Family Sircle, coordinated the music festival bringing life to Fayetteville Street that many thought had disappeared forever. His liquor house blues renditions were a crowd favorite that closed out every festival.
We are forever grateful for the memories and inspiration shared by all who knew Bobby Hinton.
Bobby Hinton’s service will be held at St Mary's FWB Church 9305 Holly Spring Rd. Apex NC on Friday, January 9th at 11:00 am.
If you grooved with Soule & The Superband at Phoenix Fest, you can party all night with them on Saturday December 13th.
