Summer heat asks something different of your body. We’re not striving for more effort. We’re slowing down long enough to listen to our bodies more.

This is a reminder that mindful living is not about adding another practice to your day, but about how you move through what’s already here.

Mindful eating becomes noticing how your body responds in real time. Daily care becomes a moment of regulation instead of rushing through routine. Walking becomes a way to stay present with your body and your environment at the same time.

Slowing down is one way the body conserves energy and reduces overwhelm in systems already working hard. Ease is not avoidance. It’s how you stay in relationship with your body without overriding it.

In the summer heat, rushing is not required. Ease is the more sustainable pace.

We often think of support as something we only use when things get “bad enough.”

Yoga taught me something different. Props aren’t about making things easier, they’re about making things accessible. Meeting the body where it is, not where we think it should be. That lesson doesn’t stay in your yoga class.

It shows up in everyday life, in sitting while doing dishes or cooking, working from bed when fatigue is heavy, using the motorized cart at the grocery store, asking for support at the airport, or choosing closer or handicap parking when walking feels like too much.

None of these are failures. They are adjustments made with care. They are ways of continuing without abandoning your body in the process of managing a chronic illness..

There’s often stigma around this, such as you have to be “disabled enough” to use support. However, need doesn’t always look the same. It doesn’t have to be visible to be valid.

Support isn’t something you earn. It’s something you’re allowed to use whenever you need it. I hope you let life be a little more accessible for you.
