In Her Vision

Presbyopia is a gradual and age-related loss of the eyes' ability to focus on nearby objects. It is produced by the increase in thickness and hardening of the lens, since it is continuously growing. It is capable of focusing on objects at different distances thanks to its accommodation mechanism, which is the ability of the lens to change its shape and power to focus on distant and near objects. Over time it loses transparency, flexibility and increases its rigidity, being one of the main causes of presbyopia. That is why it is a problem that affects a billion people around the world (Molina Bello & Bravo Sarró, 2021)

Under normal conditions, people blink between 16 and 20 times per minute. When we see a screen, this rhythm is reduced by half. This reduced blink rate can cause the eyes to feel scratchy, burn, water or even cause issues with maintaining focus. ?
