The Durant Police Department’s inaugural National Night Out was Tuesday evening in front of Durant City Hall. DPD said the event is a block party and cookout intended to promote crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and give the community the chance to connect with local police officers, firefighters and other public safety entities.

Caddo Heritage Day was Saturday, and first responders were presented certificates of appreciation after the parade.
