The DENVER AND RIO GRANDE WESTERN RAILROAD (reporting mark DRGW), often shortened to Rio Grande or D&RGW, formerly the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, was an American Class I railroad company. In the late 90s early 2000s Helper was the place to be if you wanted photographs of the Rio Grande, and I did. I made numerous visits from my home in Colorado to Helper to witness scenes just like this one from March of 99.
