If you think DJing is just pressing play… you’ve probably never felt a dancefloor breathe.

I’ve been seeing a lot of conversation lately about what “real DJing” is…

and I just want to share my lane for a moment… because it might look a little different. 💫

I’ve also been stepping deeper into creating original music through collaboration lately…
which has been opening up a whole new layer of appreciation for the craft.

And at the same time…

I don’t build setlists.
I don’t press play and ride it out.

I listen.

To the room…
to the bodies…
to the breath…
to the subtle shifts in energy that tell me where we’re going next.

Ecstatic dance isn’t just music… it’s a journey.

We move in waves…
high energy… sweat… release…
then soften… integrate… breathe…
then rise again.

It’s like a dance within a dance.

Sometimes I’m guiding the fire…
sometimes I’m holding the landing…
sometimes I’m just witnessing what wants to move through all of us.

And honestly… some of the most magical moments aren’t even “mine”…

They’re when someone grabs a mic and shares a poem…
or brings an instrument…
or a voice rises up from the crowd and becomes part of the soundscape.

That’s when it stops being a performance…

and becomes a field.

A shared, living, breathing experience.

Where we remember…
we’re not separate from the music…
or each other…
or even the earth beneath our feet.

(And yes… I will absolutely talk about mycelial networks and bass frequencies on the mic 😄)

For me, this isn’t about proving anything.

It’s about presence.
Connection.
Flow.

Not because I need to be “more valid”…

but because I love this art enough to grow with it… in all directions.

Through rhythm…
through frequency…
through intention…
through words.

Because at the end of the day…

it’s not just about what’s playing.

It’s about what’s moving.

And when the whole room is breathing together…
dancing together…
feeling together…

you can’t tell me that isn’t an art. 💙
