🧠If your attention span is 15 minutes long, don’t push yourself to focus for 30 minutes straight. You’ll only become frustrated and discouraged. Focus for 15 minutes, take a 5 minute break doing something that rejuvenates you, focus for another 15 minutes and repeat.Then, shoot for 16 or 17 minutes the following week.

🩹Pain is a natural and healthy part of life and relationships. But how do we know when our pain or others’ pain is a result of natural and healthy hurt vs dangerous damage? Here’s some food for thought. Keep in mind that these are not hard and fast rules but rather principles to consider.

🗣 At one point in my life I was in the camp that was confused (and even frustrated) by some of these forms of reporting. I’m embarrassed to admit that now. As humans, we want cold hard facts so that we can DO something about the problem. But I encourage people who are in that camp to put aside the desire to simply DO something and choose instead an attitude of curiosity and humility. A fantastic response to these forms of reporting would be “that sounds incredibly difficult, if you feel comfortable, could you tell me more? And if not, is there something that I can do to help you feel more comfortable?” And as always, if the answer is ultimately no and that they have shared as much as they can at this moment, respect it.
