🎉Congratulations to DSISD Superintendent Dr. Holly Morris-Kuentz on being named the 2026 ESC Region 13 Superintendent of the Year!

Since becoming superintendent in 2021, Dr. Morris-Kuentz has led the development and implementation of the district's Future Ready 2030 strategic plan while strengthening leadership development opportunities for students and educators and expanding community engagement through initiatives such as Taxpayer Tuesday and the Certified Realtor Program.

She has also implemented initiatives that have strengthened student achievement, including the addition of Career & Technical Education (CTE) offerings at middle school, middle school course alignment, Leader In Me alignment across all DSISD campuses, and improvements in College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) and Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) scores.

Under her leadership, the district has maintained balanced budgets, earned perfect financial ratings, and successfully passed its largest bond election with the highest voter approval rate in district history while continuing to meet the needs of one of the state's fastest-growing student populations.

As Region 13's nominee, Dr. Morris-Kuentz advances to the next round of consideration for the 2026 Texas Superintendent of the Year, which will be announced this fall during the TASA/TASB Convention.

Congratulations to rising Dripping Springs High School freshman Nora Gillum on a second-place finish at the National History Day Contest! 🎉

A three-time state champion🏆, Gillum achieved her highest national finish in the Junior Division Individual Website category, competing against 94 competitors from all 50 states and several countries with her project, “The King’s Revolutions: Rethinking the Historical Significance of Elvis Presley in 1950s America”.

At Monday's meeting, the DSISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2026-27 fiscal year budget.

The $104.8 million General Fund budget, less recapture, allocates 84% of expenditures to payroll for nearly 1,300 district employees. The remaining 16% of the budget will support classroom supplies, utilities, professional development, transportation, safety, travel, and contracted services.
