Welcome to the Hey Good Dog Movement. Where we are here to debunk this theory that dogs are bad because of their behavior, when typically their “bad behavior” is a coping mechanism they’ve learned due to trauma someone has put them through. Are all coping skills positive and healthy? No, do we even as humans struggle with unhealthy coping skills? Yes.. ask my 4 year old daughter who screams like a banshee when she’s mad. Is she a bad kid? No. She just needs help learning better coping mechanisms to deal with her frustration. Dogs need that same patience, grace and love. We need to change our way of thinking about dog behavior and instead of condemning a dog for their behavior, we need to help them learn healthier coping techniques and become the best versions of themselves.
