Ombre Brow tips: 3-way to get ink into the skin.

When we are implanting color into the skin there are three ways we can do that. We can either whip shade, stipple or do circles. Implanting ink with a circular motion is called color packing. It is a much more aggressive way to deposit ink into the skin and will leave you with a heavier look. If you are going to use this method make sure you have a larger needle configuration loaded into your machine… like a 5 round shader or an 8 round shader. I personally prefer to only use this technique when I am removing color not implanting color. The next way to implant color is whip shading. This is my preferred way of tattooing. It allows me to get a soft pixilated dusty looking brow. Many artist like to do a whip shade with a single needle but my favorite needle size for this motion is a 3 round shader. Make sure the needles only touch the skin in your downward motion when you are whipping towards yourself. If the needles stay in the skin away from you and towards you, you risk getting too much color in one area. The next way you can get ink into the skin is stippling. I only stipple if I have an area that is being stubborn and won’t take ink or if I am placing color between strokes. Although you can stipple the bulb of the brow to break up your color and give that softer ombre look as well. I prefer to ombre with a whip shade but if you are just starting out and nervous this is an option.
