On Sunday, Vivian, Joe, and Ramsey Nettleton dedication their precious baby girl, Clementine to the Lord.

A baby dedication is a sacred moment in Christian life—a time when parents stand before God and their community to acknowledge that their child is a precious gift entrusted to their care. Scripture reminds us that “children are a heritage from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3), and with that gift comes the calling to nurture, guide, and teach.

One of the clearest biblical examples comes from the story of Hannah and her son Samuel. After years of praying for a child, Hannah kept her vow to God: “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord” (1 Samuel 1:27–28). That act of presenting Samuel before God became a model of gratitude, surrender, and spiritual commitment.

As a church community, we also stand with the family, acknowledging our role in shaping the children’s spiritual environment. After all, it takes a village. We thank God for the life of Clementine, her big brother John, and their mommy Vivian.

On Sunday, Oscar shared about his battle with the enemy’s lies and how he’s been able to combat the enemy by surrendering to the Lord.

Jesus tells us plainly that Satan is the “father of lies” (John 8:44). His strategy has never changed—he whispers deception to distort how we see God, how we see ourselves, and how we see our future. But every lie collapses when it’s confronted with God’s truth.

The enemy attacks identity with lies like “Your past defines you” or “You’re a failure”, aiming to disconnect you from who God says you are. But Scripture declares: You are chosen, royal, holy, and God’s special possession (1 Peter 2:9).

The enemy attacks hope with lies like “You’ll never make it through this” or “Change is too hard”, meant to keep you stuck. But Jesus came so you may have life to the full, not a life limited by fear or defeat.

Oscar’s strongest weapon against the enemy’s lies? The Armor of God: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” -Ephesians 6:10-18

Truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, God’s Word—these aren’t metaphors; they are spiritual weapons.
