NASA has not announced any sudden planetary event in 2026 that would dramatically change Earth or threaten humanity.

Viral social media posts using this wording often refer to long-term studies about Earth's distant future, such as the Sun's gradual brightening making Earth less habitable over about a billion years, not beginning in 2026.

NASA has also debunked viral claims that Earth will lose gravity or undergo a catastrophic change in 2026.

πŸŒ•πŸš€ When Apollo 11 landed on the Moon in July 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin experienced a view unlike anything seen from Earth.

Because the Moon has virtually no atmosphere, the lunar sky appeared pitch black even in broad daylight. At the same time, the Sun illuminated the lunar surface so intensely that stars were generally not visible to the astronauts' eyes during their moonwalk.

One object stood out brilliantly against the darkness: Earth. From the lunar surface, our planet appeared as a bright blue-and-white globe suspended in space. Armstrong later described Earth as remarkably bright and visually striking from the Moon. NASA mission transcripts and post-flight debriefings also note that Earth's reflected light was bright enough to shine into the Lunar Module.

The contrast between the sunlit lunar landscape, the black sky, and the glowing Earth created one of the most extraordinary views ever witnessed by humans.

Christina Koch is an American astronaut and engineer best known for her groundbreaking achievements aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and her continued contributions to NASA’s human spaceflight programs.

From an early age, she developed a strong interest in science, exploration, and engineering. She later earned degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics, building a strong academic foundation that led her to a career in space research and technology development.

In 2013, Koch was selected as a NASA astronaut. After years of rigorous training, she flew to the ISS as part of Expeditions 59, 60, and 61, where she served as a flight engineer and contributed to a wide range of scientific experiments in biology, Earth science, and human physiology.

She made history by completing 328 consecutive days in space, the longest single spaceflight by a woman at the time, helping scientists better understand the effects of long-duration space travel on the human body.

Koch also participated in the first all-female spacewalks alongside astronaut Jessica Meir, marking a major milestone in space exploration and representation.

Beyond her record-breaking mission, she continues to play an important role in NASA’s future exploration efforts, including participation in Artemis missions aimed at returning humans to the Moon.

Today, Christina Koch is widely respected for her courage, discipline, and contributions to advancing human spaceflight, inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers around the world.

The top image shows the famous β€œGreat Andromeda Nebula,” photographed by Isaac Roberts on 29 December 1888. At the time, astronomers believed it was a nebula within our own galaxy.
The bottom image reveals what we now know it truly is: the Andromeda Galaxy β€” a vast spiral galaxy containing hundreds of billions of stars, much like our own Milky Way. Roberts' historic photograph was among the first to reveal Andromeda's spiral structure, helping pave the way toward our modern understanding of galaxies. οΏ½
