Boxing’s Greatest Comebacks - Duran vs Barkley Although this isn’t a comeback in the typical sense, it’s one of the greatest career comebacks of all time and in my opinion what makes Duran a top 5 all time great. Roberto had already made an excellent comeback beaten Davey Moore years earlier against all odds, but this one was seemingly impossible! Roberto was 37 here, he had lost to Hagler and suffered what many considered a career ending KO defeat to Tommy Hearns as well as losing to Robbie Sims since those fights. Not only that, he was way past his prime by nearly a decade and 25 pounds above his natural weight. To make matters even more difficult he was fighting the absolute killer in Iran Barkley a huge Middleweight KO artist who himself had knocked out Tommy Hearns. The slips, counters, inside work and toughness of Duran here is just beautiful - an amazing last hurrah in one of boxings most extraordinary careers! 09/26/2023
