Tijuana’s Iranian community is barely twenty people. Yet when Iran’s team left for the World Cup, the sidewalk was packed five-deep, Mexicans waving Iranian flags, chanting “Team Melli.” One sign read: “Iran, you will never walk alone. Mexico stands with you.” The crowd even sang in Spanish: “Iran, brother, you are Mexican now.”
Mexico didn’t just host them. It welcomed them like family. 🇲🇽🇮🇷
