Yesterday I visited Facebook for the first time in a while and the thing that hit me was the news about Allan Holdsworth's sudden death. I saw posts from Fredrik and Morgan and started to read other news with disbelief. Just a day before I purchased Allan's new 12CD box set and today I'm reading that he's gone... Strange.

I don't usually post stuff like this, but Allan was one of those musicians who in a very specific way opened minds of many instrumentalists and listeners. He was simply "Alien" Holdsworth.

This picture is from about 10 years ago, so we both had little or no gray hair back then 🙂
It was taken by Todd Forkin (who at the time played guitar in Starwkeather) at Iridium Jazz Club in NYC, where AH performed many, many times. We saw Allan playing twice that night. Unforgettable evening, like many others over the years...
