🌷Happy 1st Day of Spring!
Pruning has begun. We see many of these in our black raspberry patch. Did you know the protective egg case is called an “Ootheca”? We always referred to them as a Praying Mantis Chrysalis. A mere 75 to 200 little praying mantis will hatch from each one. We know that for a fact, as we experienced an unknown case hatching from a real Christmas tree one year. Our living room windows were overtaken by these teeny little guys who thought spring had arrived in December!

Blessings to you for 2026! No one knows what tomorrow holds but we know who holds tomorrow! David and I anticipate great opportunities as we focus a bit differently this year. It will definitely be different at Barefoot Farm, just offering pick-your-own raspberries -but no strawberries. If you hadn’t heard, we are feeling that we need to give our strawberry fields a rest and we could use the same after 24 years. We will harvest & sell asparagus in the spring (late April) and be open for raspberry picking in mid June. We still hope to see and interact with many of you. If you need us, give a call.

HE FOUND A NICE ONE! We still have plenty of orange jack-o’-lantern size pumpkins to pick from our fields. Just a few left of white, peach, green etc. Open 10 am to Dusk. Cash or check payment only. Snippers and small wagons provided for your use.
