Some say it started in ancient times as proof there were no weapons in hand. Some say it was a ritual to seal a deal. Yet others reserved it for forming an alliance, a sacred act of devotion.
The Handshake.
Psychologists analyze it and teenagers interviewing for their first job dread it.
Because it’s important.
America was built on the shake of a hand: from Pioneers to Engineers, Miners to Farmers, Blue to White Collar.
Contracts in good faith were forged with the simplest, yet most profound, of gestures.
Handshakes are a far cry from the multi-page agreements none of us *actually* read when we purchase software, get a loan, or download an app.
But back in the day, a person’s word and handshake trumped any terms of service.
