We had another great Bright Key parent meeting with Principal Williams! Today we talked about the Whole Child concept with our parents. Bright Key is a community to schools program dedicated to using Whole Child principles that sees each student as a multidimensional individual with specific needs and capabilities. We have a lot of caring and concerned DPA parents ready to make our school the best it can be for our students! If you are a DPA parent, grandparent, caregiver or just a concerned community member, you are welcome to join us and/or be part of our Bright Key volunteer program! Bright Key can serve our students! Missed the first meeting? That's okay! Come next Wednesday and we are going to continue the discussion. All DPA parents are welcome! Join us to be a part of great things happening!

Parents are deciding on programs for next year to accommodate their vote for Life Skills programs. In addition to mentoring, Bright Key schools have brought many familiar programs to students, including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Girls Inc., 4-H and more! Join us to help make important decisions about the future of Bright Key DPA! Meeting will be held at 9:00AM Wednesday, May 14th, at DPA in the Bright Key room. See you there!

It’s our goodbye “for now” to our lead parent and community mentors and their awesome students. Thank you, Lynn Lawson and Deshawnda Partlow for being an instrumental part of Bright Key. Our students loved and learnes from you. We are so grateful that you took time out of your busy day to give back to our students. You mean more to us than we could ever express. Thank you for being our Bright Key Rockstars! 🎉

We had to say goodbye to another great group of volunteers from Five Star and these amazing students. They worked hard on their project even while they celebrated together! Some of of Five Star volunteers also got to enjoy posing next to their new signage! We are so thankful to have such a committed ADR sponsor and volunteer group at Five Star! Alannah Cunard, Joneshia Bennett, Alexia Britford and Moses Coleman, you get ALL the stars from us! Thank you for always bringing such love and warmth to share with our students! 🤩

The Bright Key mentoring/tutoring program comes to an end this week to line up with the beginning of testing after spring break. As a result, our volunteer mentors are saying goodbye until next year! Coke volunteers had a great final session with their Bright Key students. Each child got a personalized collector Coke with their name on it (and maybe a few more good things to come in the future)! We appreciate the time and effort Neil Guess, Brad Bell & Levi Phillipps invested in mentoring these students and also have Coke sponsor and create our beautifully painted walls and amazing map of the world mural. We are so thankful for our community volunteers and the work they did to make Bright Key DPA a success! Thank you Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, Inc. You mean “the world” to us! 🌍 ♥️
