I LOVE EARTH DAY because we are the earth and the earth is us!
In Chinese medicine everything within is governed by the same laws that govern the earth. All of the elements are also part of our natural processes as well. As within so without. It is up to us to see that we keep the natural rhythms of nature flowing harmoniously both within and without. It makes sense to understand that to take care of the earth is to take care of ourselves.

I have an over abundance of purple deadnettle that has taken over the garden! Did you know that this beautiful w**d is highly nutritious? It’s loaded with antioxidants (especially vitamin C and iron) and and packs a triple punch being anti inflammatory, antibiotic and anti fungal. It’s even said to help reduce allergy symptoms.

You can use the leaves mixed into your salads or added to your smoothies. It’s especially yummy with banana and mango smoothies!

I made some tea today. Put a couple tablespoons of the leaves in a pot and pour just below boiling water and steep for 10 minutes. If you do this be careful not to drink too much as it can have a purging effect.

I’ll definitely be adding it to my salads as well!
