The CEL in my 2020 Grand Cherokee - 3.6L, with 85, # # # miles on it started coming on and off at the end of January. There was a P0305 code stored at that time - misfire #5 cylinder.
I replaced the #5 coil pack thinking that maybe it was a bad coil pack. No CEL for two weeks, and then it came back. Thinking that maybe I got a bad coil pack from the parts store, I moved the new coil pack from #5 to #2 and replaced all 6 plugs, with no issues for another week. I also noticed when I replaced the plugs that the coolant was low? I topped it off and decided I would find the leak another day.
CEL came back and the Jeep was running rough. The CEL then went out again. A little stumped, I took it to a shop on the recommendation of someone that I trust. The shop called me the next day and said that the coolant was low, however after topping it off and pressure-checking it, found no leaks.
This shop believes that the Jeep needs new cylinder heads! And I am inclined to believe them. It's been two days and the coolant is low again, and I am getting white smoke from the exhaust.
Has anyone else run into this with the 3.6L before? The oil is clean, with NO signs of intermix.
I just turned in my 2014 JK with the 3.6L and aside from a couple of oil coolers, never had an engine issue in 172K miles on it.
