The Underground Magnetics II project shines with the stunning beauty of stone imported from India! ✨ Our Director of Architecture & Business Development, Daniel Willrich, was honored by the Masonry Institute of Iowa for his work on this project, where this incredible stone was used as a rainscreen for the office portion. The result? A breathtaking blend of modern design and timeless material.

Thursday night was an exciting night for Grand View Christian School as they held their first athletic event in the new McWilliams Activities Center on their E29th and Broadway campus. This was a great project for Pelds Design Services to be a part of. Big thanks to the school and to our other team members, The Waldinger Corporation, Tesdell Electric, Tometich Engineering, Inc., and Eick & Day Construction, LLC for a successful project.

In July 2018, an EF-3 tornado ripped through Marshalltown, Iowa, causing considerable damage throughout the community. Lennox International lost a sizable portion of their production facility as well as their regional office building that stood since the early 1900’s. Amid speculation about the company’s future in Marshalltown, Lennox committed to rebuild and remain. Pelds Design Services was honored to be selected as part of the team to help Lennox with this effort.

The plant rebuild was an immediate need, so the team quickly put together a plan for over 106,000 sf of production space to replace the series of smaller buildings that were lost in the storm. The team took time to analyze a pre-engineered building solution, as well as a conventionally framed approach. In the end, the conventional solution was selected, and the team developed an efficient design to seamlessly blend with the remaining facility and the new office building to come.

For the administration building, an important philosophy that informed the design was a desire to show the community that Lennox was committed to Marshalltown and are here to stay. The office building is roughly 40,000 sf over two floors. Key features include a colonnade outside of the first-floor offices, a curved façade, a museum space to function as the main entrance, space for sales training, and a room for testing of their products. Materials are primarily natural limestone laid up as a full depth veneer, aluminum composite panels, and glass storefront.

Today we want to share one of our land development projects, the Bondurant Industrial Park. This is a project that Pelds Design Services designed for the Premier Companies land development division. The site is 21.54 acres along highway 65 in Bondurant, Iowa which we split into 11 lots ranging in size from 1 acre to 4.5 acres. The design of the project included a street system throughout and a regional storm water management system. This allows each site to manage their storm water in a regional basin rather than requiring storm water management on each site. This development is zoned M2 which allows for medium industrial projects and outdoor storage.

As a part of the project, the Pelds team worked with the Iowa Department of Transportation and their engineering firm to create a turning lane off of highway 65. The addition of this turn lane greatly improves to the site.

Since completion of construction of the development, Pelds Design Services has designed several light industrial flex buildings for various clients within the development.
