Check out their wicked fish tanks shown below. Battery backup was an essential part of their build. A few days without power would spell an end to these little guys.

Raises an important question. We obviously live in a different world right now; a world where backup gen is becoming ever more essential.

So the question is...

Update: "Sunshine Tax Bill"

The Iowa Legislature adjourned yesterday without passing the ‘Sunshine Tax’ bill. This is a major win for solar installers, solar customers, and all Iowans - who benefit from increased clean energy production.

Thank you to everyone who lent their voice and time this session. From coming to the Capitol, communicating with legislators, writing opinion pieces, showing up at town hall forums, and engaging with your staff and costumers, you have shown the importance of customer-owned solar.

The Iowa House could not find the votes needed to move this proposal forward. Many legislators recognized the benefits that solar energy brings to businesses, homes, farms, churches, and local governments and schools within their districts. This tough process has also revealed new solar allies in the House who we hope to work with to advance pro-solar policies, such as a Value of Solar study.

Our work will continue between now and the next legislative session to educate more lawmakers about fair solar policy. I hope to keep in touch with you about engaging with your local representatives.
