“It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of K-9 Robbi. Robbi was discovered unresponsive by his handler and transported to Sweetwater Animal Hospital. Medical staff determined Robbi passed away from natural causes.

K9 Robbi has been with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office since September 2023. He has been a consistent asset to our agency and was most recently celebrated for capturing a suspected bank robber.

This is not the final chapter anyone wanted for Robbi but it will not erase the amazing story he helped write for our agency and our community.”

In one California mountain town, the mayor has four paws.

His name is Maximus Mighty-Dog Mueller III.

But everyone simply knows him as Mayor Max.

In Idyllwild, a small mountain town about two hours outside San Diego, the mayor is not a politician in a suit. He is a golden retriever in a tie, greeting visitors from the back of an SUV and bringing people the kind of joy most campaigns only promise.

Technically, Idyllwild is an unincorporated community in Riverside County, so it does not have an official local mayor. But since 2012, the town has embraced a very different kind of leadership.

It all started when Animal Rescue Friends of Idyllwild held a fundraiser where locals could run their pets for mayor. Votes cost $1, and people could vote as many times as they wanted.

The original Max won by a landslide.

After he passed away during his term, the title stayed in the family line. Max II continued the tradition, and now Max III holds the role as mayor for life.

And honestly, his platform is hard to argue with.

No political fights.

No speeches.

No scandals that matter to dogs.

Just kindness, public appearances, photos with visitors, charity events, ribbon cuttings, weddings, birthdays, fundraisers, and a golden retriever making people smile in a mountain town that clearly understands the power of a good dog.

Most afternoons, Mayor Max can be found downtown wearing his signature tie, meeting his “constituents,” and reminding everyone that sometimes the best community symbol is not someone who argues about problems.

It is someone who makes strangers stop, laugh, take a picture, and feel a little lighter.

Maybe that is why his approval rating stays so high.

Because Mayor Max does not divide people.

He unites them around something simple:

A happy dog, a small town, and the belief that joy is also a kind of public service.

Let’s all congratulate K-9 Ares of the Arlington County Police Department, Virginia on a well deserved retirement.

At 13 years of age, Vader has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, leaving behind a legacy of service and countless memories with those who had the honor of working alongside him.

Behind every badge is a commitment to serve. Behind every K-9 is a bond built on trust, training, and loyalty. Together, this team represents courage, teamwork, and the promise that someone is always watching over us.

Today is just another day on duty—but for these heroes, every day is an opportunity to make a difference.

🇺🇸 Firefighter Down, Texas 🇺🇸

Today, a Texas community mourns the loss of a true hero.

Lieutenant Isai Huerta of the City of Odessa Fire & Rescue made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting others. During a residential trailer fire, conditions rapidly worsened, injuring multiple firefighters. Tragically, Lt. Huerta later succumbed to his injuries sustained in the line of duty.

Behind every firefighter is a family that shares in the sacrifice, and today our hearts are with Lt. Huerta's loved ones, fellow firefighters, friends, and the entire Odessa community.

Heroes don't wear capes—they wear turnout gear, answer the call without hesitation, and put their lives on the line for complete strangers.

Rest easy, Lieutenant. Your courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸🚒❤️
