life hack: run a marathon abroad, get a trip as your race treat. Basically a BOGO

perfect week tbh

ONE HOUR PR OMG REDEMPTION!!! Went from a first marathon in October that did not go according to plan (though I’m still so proud of myself for getting it done) to a race that went EXACTLY to plan— 5:38 ➡️ 4:38.

When asked me what my A/B/C goals were, I was nervous to say 4:39 out loud but her confidence in me gave me so much confidence in myself. I worked my butt off and beat my A goal and I am just so proud. All week I just knew in my soul I was going to get it and it was hard as hell but I hit my race plan ex*****on literally on the nose. I fought for every mile and it was TOUGH but I am just so so happy and so thankful for a coach who helped me train so well and build such a perfect race day.

The half merged with the full midway through (instead of starting w us and finishing halfway) which royally pi**ed off and made for a lot of weaving after I’d settled into race pace so well and the last 10k felt hillier than I expected and then at mile 24 I really thought I might throw up but all in all couldn’t have asked for a better race day + my hype team was the best ever

PLUS found out yesterday that Pop— my fave person on the planet— has “no evidence of disease, best case scenario” after a year fighting pancreatic cancer and I cried when I finished at the relief of a race well done in the footsteps of our family’s first marathoner who is officially in remission

Literally just a perfect perfect day and my legs are so so sore but I’m a 2x marathoner with a major PR and ten in-tact toenails and a lot of people who made me feel so loved and celebrated. PLUS ran her fastest and furthest ever at the 10k and it was so special to do this together with my beloved camp girls + Collin/logan/jordan on the sidelines. doing hard things is so rewarding and I’m already “can I hit a 4:20 next if I just ran a 4:38” and scheming for my next race so safe to say the running addiction is to be continued. got my A goal and my whole body hurts but I had the best cheer squad ever and I got to do it with Jordy and I am OVER THE MOON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
