After studying nutrition and working at Skyridge Medical Center, I realized that change does not occur on a grand governmental level. Public awareness has grown about the current unethical condition of the American food system. Social change can only happen through a collective conscience. The way to make change in your community is by supporting local merchants, farmers, ranchers and artisan food

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

On June 9, 2012, I married the love of my life.

Marriage equality had not yet become the law of the land, but that didn't stop us from celebrating our commitment. We invited 160 people to Chief Colorow's Cave in Morrison, Colorado, and surrounded ourselves with the family we had chosen.

Our community carried us that day.

Katie's mother took the reins and hosted our wedding as if we were her own daughters. Chef John prepared an unforgettable meal. Our dear friend Adrienne Moon created the florals. Darren Hahn and his jazz band filled the evening with music, and our friend Ben officiated our ceremony. As if nature wanted to celebrate with us, a baby deer was born at our ceremony site that day. We truly felt like we were walking on air.

To this day, people still tell us it was one of the best weddings they've ever attended.

It's easy to share the beautiful parts of our story. The joy. The laughter. The incredible love.

It's harder to talk about what happened quietly in the background.

My wife's parents embraced me from the very beginning. My own parents chose not to attend.

Several friends offered to walk me down the aisle, but I declined. I chose to walk alone.

It wasn't because I had no one. It was because it reflected the life I had lived up to that point. For so many years, I had walked my own path. And then, at the end of that aisle, my father-in-law wasn't just walking my wife toward me—he was welcoming me into an entirely new family. That gift changed my life, and I will always be grateful for the love and acceptance they have shown us.

During our ceremony, Callie and I asked every guest to hold hands. We asked them to promise that when life became difficult—and we knew it inevitably would—they would remind us of this moment and help carry us back to our love.

Over the last 14 years, they've done exactly that.

This is why Pride matters.

At Heirloom Catering, we don't see LGBTQ+ couples as a market. We see them as our community.

We've lived the joy. We've lived the heartbreak. We understand the complicated family dynamics that can accompany weddings. We know what it feels like to wonder if you'll be fully seen, celebrated, or accepted.

When you hire us, you're not simply hiring a caterer.

You're choosing a team that will walk beside you with dignity, compassion, and genuine joy. We're here to celebrate your love—not just on your wedding day, but every day.

Happy Pride Month. We see you. We celebrate you. And we're honored to help tell your story.

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of catering a beautiful Celebration of Life for a truly special family.

Their father was a gardener, an orchard keeper, and someone known for extraordinary generosity. The kind of person whose hospitality made everyone feel welcome, nourished, and at home.

To honor his legacy, we created a menu inspired by the things he loved. We hand-crafted saffron corzetti, a traditional stamped pasta whose intricate designs tell a story long before the first bite. We finished the meal with saffron ice cream and pistachio cookies, bringing together flavors that felt both elegant and deeply personal.

Food has a remarkable way of preserving memories. Every stamp in the pasta, every thread of saffron, and every shared meal became a small tribute to a life well lived.

It was an honor to help celebrate a man whose love was cultivated through gardens, orchards, family, and a table that was always open to others.

Back in 2018, Zach started Rebel Bread in our Curtis Park kitchen. Watching him grow from those early days into one of Denver’s most beloved bakeries has been such a joy, and I couldn’t be prouder of everything he has built.

Now, somehow, we’ve ended up in the same building again.

This weekend we had the opportunity to cater a family celebration together. Zach fired up his coal-fired pizzas while we prepared seasonal appetizers, fresh salads, and saffron ice cream with pistachio cookies for dessert.

The food was wonderful, but the real highlight was spending the day laughing, hugging, and working alongside one of my dearest friends. These full-circle moments are rare, and they remind me why I love being part of Denver’s food community.

Here’s to old friends, shared kitchens, and the businesses we build together. šŸ„‚

It’s salad season, and we are here for it!

Meet our Deconstructed Pesto Pasta Salad — a light, bright celebration of spring flavors and Colorado-grown goodness.

Fresh farfalle pasta tossed with shaved asparagus, crisp radishes, sweet spring peas, peppery arugula, chopped basil, and Parmesan. Finished with toasted pine nuts, fresh lemon zest, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, and a squeeze of lemon juice for the perfect balance of freshness and flavor.

This dish is everything we love about the season: vibrant, simple, and packed with ingredients that let the produce shine.

At Heirloom Catering, we believe great food starts with great ingredients, and spring is giving us plenty to be excited about.

Our Mediterranean menu continues to be one of our most requested experiences — vibrant, seasonal, and built around gathering people around the table.

From house-made falafel and olive & lemon braised chicken to spicy lamb meatballs, roasted feta, fresh herbs, citrus, and garden-inspired sides, this menu was designed to feel abundant, colorful, and full of life.

Paired with signature cocktails, bright wines, and a little baklava for dessert, it’s the kind of spread that turns dinner into an experience.

Perfect for:
• Weddings
• Corporate gatherings
• Summer parties
• Family-style celebrations
• Outdoor events

At Heirloom Catering, we believe food should tell a story — rooted in hospitality, culture, and connection.
