Three Tiers for Cake

I love seeing the cake in place with the added toppers. These toys belonged to the couples children who are now teens. & have a special tie to this couple and their son and it tied in so sweetly as toppers, especially seeing the sons face as he told us they had belonged to him. It was so touching. The groom is an artist who designed the pattern that was then made into the fabric used for the neck and bow ties for the men so we mimicked it in a hand painted fondant ribbon for the cake. I love a good sentimental design!

This cake was Italian cream cake with praline pecans, toasted coconut, cream cheese filling, coconut custard and coconut swiss meringue buttercream. I had planned to make 4 million sugar flowers but alas spring had other plans for my allergies! I made an executive decision and bought real flowers instead. Hydrangea are toxic to eat so we made sure to put 2 layers of press and seal wrap under the flowers to keep the actual cake food safe.
