A day in the life: trail crew edition. 🥾
04/16/2026
What keeps someone coming back to trail crew?
It’s not just the work.
It’s the impact.
“I love being part of something bigger than myself.”
From restoring historic trails to building community in the desert, this work creates something that lasts far beyond a single season.
And the best part?
Anyone can be a part of it.
You don’t need experience, just a willingness to show up and care.
🌵 Support this work by sharing, donating, or getting involved.

Trail crew isn’t just about building trails.
It’s about creating spaces where people feel seen, challenged, and connected to each other and to the desert.
“Some days it’s hail, sore feet, and long hours…
…but every night ends with people who truly care.”
Because of this work, trails stay open.
Students get to explore.
And this place continues to matter.

🌵 Trail Crew Impact
Over 8 days in the field, a crew of 14 volunteers helped restore and care for the Sheep Bridge Loop in Tonto National Forest.
Together they:
🥾 Cleared 3.5 miles of trail
🧹 Spent 4+ hours cleaning the trailhead
🗑 Removed 8 large bags of trash.
In fragile ecosystems like the Sonoran Desert, regular trail stewardship helps keep routes clear while protecting surrounding habitat.
A huge thank you to the volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to this project.

Thanks to our incredible Colorado Gives Day supporters, we raised $11,714 to invest directly in immersive field experiences.
New backpacks. Sleeping systems. Rain gear. Group equipment. Boats for future expeditions.
These aren’t just supplies, they’re tools that help young people build resilience, adaptability, and the confidence to lead.
We are deeply grateful to our community for making this possible!
