Community Member of the Month: The K4P Community Craft Circle

In August of 2025, Knitting4Peace expanded our event offerings by introducing a monthly Community Crafting Circle, held via Zoom. Since that time, a small but mighty group of knitters and crocheters, informally led by Kim M., have met together to chat, share project ideas, and continue to build K4P community connections.
During the Crafting Circle in May, we had an opportunity to chat with participants and asked what they enjoyed most about attending the monthly zoom events. Evelyn shared that she particularly enjoys chatting with people from all over the country. Beverly says she really likes the interesting conversations members have and that it is even fun to hear about the weather in other areas. Nancy doesn’t get out as much as she used to and does not have a nearby yarn shop so the Zoom Crafting Circle fills her interest in connecting with others. Kim shared that she is not a member of a Peace Pod and doesn’t have a local group to knit with. She is happy that she doesn’t have to leave home and loves that “everything is right here” as she is working on projects. One of the participants agreed that it is a benefit to not have to go out and remarked that it is especially fun to not have to think about “hosting” a group in her home. All agreed that being on a Zoom call is a unique way to connect with others. If a participant is sharing information on a particular project (not always fiber-related!), they can just go into the next room to get the project and show the others on the call! The group excitedly talked about how much they enjoyed hearing about all the different kinds of arts/crafts that people were involved in and that there is lots of interesting learning going on each month.
We would love to have you join us during the Create-a-thon to meet current and new participants. If it is not for you, there is no pressure to continue but it would be great to have you pull up a chair (or couch!) and drop by for a bit! It is a bit reminiscent of the “front porch” that Babbie recalled from her time with Susan and other informal knitting groups that folks have told us about. The next monthly meeting is June 9th from 4:00-5:00 PM, MST. If it is your first time, you can register on our website event page There is no cost to attend! We look forward to seeing you there!
