CoCEAL is a coalition of post-secondary and professional educators devoted to the educational success of the state’s Latino/Hispanic population. The group grew out of a larger, statewide Hispanic Association of College and University group that began to meet in earnest in July of 2008. The intent of the group is to build a sustainable coalition of professional educators at the post-secondary level

✨ Meet the Board ✨

We’re proud to highlight Karl Diaz-Sanders, CoCEAL’s current President and Student Success Coach at CU Denver.

Born and raised in Colorado, Karl’s story is rooted in resilience, community, and a deep commitment to educational equity. Guided by the legacy of his grandparents, who were migrant farm workers from Mexico, Karl has dedicated his career to breaking down systemic barriers so that all students, regardless of background, can thrive in higher education.

As President, Karl envisions CoCEAL as a unified voice for Latinx student success, leveraging collaboration, resources, and advocacy to ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve their goals.

Karl’s advice to students:

“Never forget the resilience, strength, and determination that lie within you. When life feels overwhelming, remember it’s those qualities that will carry you through.”

We’re honored to have Karl leading our coalition. 💙
