Yesterday was the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, and as we reflect on Pride month we want to celebrate Marsha P. Johnson, a Black trans woman, prominent gay activist and central figure in that uprising. The obituary in the New York Times described her “ability to mix flamboyant joy with determined activism” as a “central part of her legacy”.
