I started volunteering a lot as a hands-only CPR trainer for South Metro Safety Foundation (SMSF) at various public events, and am now a paid American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and first aid trainer for SMSF. Through them, I attended a Stop the Bleed course in January 2024, and then a few weeks later became a Stop the Bleed volunteer instructor. Prior to all of that, I was a certified Emergency Medical Technician in Los Angeles County in 1991, but didn't take a job as an EMT. I kept up my American Heart Association or Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED training mostly every two years since then. Empowering people to be able to quickly assist others in an emergency, and possibly save lives, is what drives me to teach these classes for free. I encourage you to take the full First Aid / CPR / AED one-day class from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. The latter is available through SouthMetroFoundation.org, affiliated with South Metro Fire Rescue.
