Shoutout to UndauntedK12, Ten Strands, California State PTA, and Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action. SB 1048 — California's Seal of Climate Literacy bill — just passed the Senate Education Committee unanimously and with bipartisan support.
Lyra is proud to stand alongside this coalition as the Seal continues to grow state by state. California students are one step closer to a credential that reflects the climate leadership they are capable of!

More encouraging news for climate education — this time from Hawaiʻi. 🌺
HB1925, legislation to establish a Seal of Climate Literacy, passed the House Finance Committee unamended yesterday.
Lyra is proud to support this effort to expand opportunities for students to build the knowledge and skills needed to lead in a changing climate. As one advocate shared during testimony, climate learning can help transform “fear into empowerment” for young people.
We’re excited to see this work moving forward and grateful to the students, educators, and partners helping advance climate literacy across the islands. 🌱

We are celebrating a major milestone! 🎉 The Minnesota Youth Council voted unanimously to support the Seal of Climate Literacy legislation (HF3557 / SF3659). As the official voice of young people in Minnesota, the Council’s 36 middle and high school representatives advise state leaders on the issues shaping their generation’s future. Their unanimous vote sends a powerful message: students are ready for climate literacy to be prioritized and recognized.
Grateful for the leadership of Shreya Sekar, Feven Tesfaye, and Aili Schultz. Youth voices are leading the way. 🌎✨

Lyra is thrilled to share that we’ve been named a 2026 Best of Green Schools awardee by the Center for Green Schools and the Green Schools National Network! 🎉
The Seal of Climate Literacy received the “Movement of the Moment” award, and we couldn’t be prouder of the progress the Seal has made — first in Colorado and now the ripple effect across the country.
This recognition reflects the incredible work of our longtime and new partners who are helping make climate education and action systemic nationwide. We’re honored to be in such inspiring company with schools, organizations, and individuals leading the green schools movement forward.

Climate change can feel overwhelming for students.
Our partners across the state —including in Boulder Valley — are proving that action is the antidote to anxiety by offering education tools like the Seal of Climate Literacy, which allow students to earn valuable skills as they work to transform their concern into meaningful change.
These programs and credentials validate student learning in a field that many young people are passionate about while showing colleges and employers that there is real demand for climate education.
Full story:
From anxiety to action: How Boulder Valley students are channeling their concerns into climate leadership (Opinion) Eighty-five percent of U.S. youth experience moderate to extreme climate anxiety. 🌎 The conversation around climate change often feels abstract or politically charged, but for many students, it's personal and urgent. They see the challenges facing their communities and they want to be part of the solution. These young people are not just passively learning; they are actively shaping policy and driving change. When we empower students with a practical, comprehensive education, we give them hope in the face of a challenging issue and better equip them to lead us to a more resilient future.
🗞️ This new piece from Colorado Public Radio is a powerful reminder that while we often talk about the burden of climate change on youth and the anxiety it can produce, the most effective antidote is empowerment and action. We should all work to match their resolve and support their efforts.
In Colorado, ‘students are ready to take action around climate, and it's the rest of us that need to follow along’ The state board of education's vote on Thursday will decide new science standards as students push for explicit mention of fossil fuels’ impact on the Earth’s rising temperature.
