Supporting Denver's older adults 💜 As part of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, staff on our Adult Protection team attended a conference focused on isolation and loneliness, and the impact on older adults in our community. “I have only just started to understand [how] detrimental it is to our older population," said DHS team member Tyler Duve, who learned isolation can increase risks for certain diseases and mental health issues. It can also leave older adults more vulnerable to abuse and neglect. "The conference also provided valuable resources that are available in our community to help seniors decrease loneliness and isolation, many of which can be found at local libraries," said DHS team member Karen Devine. Thank you to our DHS team, and the entire Denver community for everything we do to protect older adults.
