Shift sleeping can be a game changer in the early postpartum weeks. Instead of both parents waking for every feed, diaper change, and soothing session, you take turns being “on duty” while the other gets a protected stretch of uninterrupted sleep.

Even 4–5 hours of consolidated rest can make a huge difference in recovery, mental health, patience, and overall functioning during those newborn days. 🤍

There’s no perfect nighttime system — only what helps your family survive and feel supported. Shift sleeping is one simple tool that can help everyone get a little more rest during a season that asks a lot of you.

If you want to talk through your specific situation and what shift setup might make the most sense for your family, feel free to DM me. ✨

The registry has the bassinet, the swaddle, the cute little outfits.

What it doesn’t have is the stuff that actually gets you through the fourth trimester.

A pelvic floor PT. A postpartum doula. Meals that last past day 5. A therapist you found before you needed one. A partner who just does things without being asked.

These aren’t luxuries. They’re the support system your body and mind are going to need, and nobody thinks to ask for them until they’re in the thick of it.

Save this before your baby shower. Send it to someone who’s expecting. Let the people who love you know what actually helps.

The terms get used interchangeably — but they’re not the same thing, and knowing the difference could change everything for a new mom in your life.

Baby blues are normal. They affect up to 80% of moms, peak around day 3-5, and resolve on their own by week 2.

If what you’re feeling goes beyond that window — or feels like more than sadness — it deserves real attention.

Postpartum depression isn’t always crying. It can look like numbness, disconnection, rage, or feeling like you’re going through the motions. It can show up anytime in the first year. And it responds really well to treatment when it’s caught early.

Postpartum anxiety is the one that gets missed the most. It doesn’t look like sadness — it looks like a mom who can’t turn her brain off. Who can’t sleep even when the baby sleeps. Who loves her baby so fiercely it terrifies her.

You don’t have to be “bad enough” to ask for help. Struggling is enough. Save this, share it with an expecting mom, or send it to someone who you think might need it right now.

We don’t talk about this enough — and we should. 🤍

We often hear “just wait until” like it’s a warning.
Long nights. Endless feedings. Uncertainty.

But it can mean something else: the little moments that make it all worth it—when they reach for you, when you find your rhythm, when the quiet feels easier.

“Just wait until” doesn’t have to be about surviving—it can be about the everyday moments that truly matter. 🤍

The newborn days are tender, exhausting, and fleeting all at once. Nights that feel long, days that blur together.

And then they smile at you, and somehow it's all worth it.

A familiar face is stepping into a new role on our team!

Many of our families already know Carly as one of our incredible Newborn Care Specialists, providing calm, expert overnight care so babies (and parents!) can get the rest they need during those early months.

We’re excited to share that Carly is also stepping into a new role as our Caregiver Onboarding Specialist, where she’ll help guide new caregivers through interviews and orientation as they join the Fourth Support Colorado team.

It feels really special to have her supporting both the families we serve and the caregivers who make this work possible. Help us give Carly a warm welcome! ✨

In the early weeks, babies are learning how to regulate — not follow a schedule.

Focusing on cues, feeding, and connection first often leads to more settled sleep over time.

This is the foundation we support families with during overnight care. DM me to learn how we can support your fam!

Night waking in newborns is biologically normal.

When families understand this, they can respond with confidence instead of worry.

Support in these early weeks often brings more peace than any schedule ever could.
