Let’s get into another training principal. CAT training.

What is it?
-CAT training is the idea, popularized by the great Fred Hatfield AKA Dr. Squat, that a lifter should execute the concentric (up) portion of the lift as fast as possible.

How to apply it?
- The simplest way to incorporate it into your lifts is to just always move the bar through the concentric phase as fast as possible. Use it on every warm up set. Then every rep you do is “speed” work.

What are the benefits?
- It can help maximize your gains by increasing Force output (Force=mass x acceleration). The faster we move any weight the more force we are outputting even with lighter loads.

In short don’t be lazy. Move the bar with intention and move it fast.
