d more productive and rewarding lives if they had the opportunity to live in traditional homes and neighborhoods throughout adolescence and adulthood, Roundup was one of the first agencies in Colorado to offer community based group home living for children in the mid 1970s. This provided a crucial alternative to institutional facilities for children with developmental disabilities. In light of the success of Roundups group homes, Roundup continued to assess the needs of people with developmental disabilities in Colorado, designing programs and services that provide clients with additional opportunities to participate in their community. Today, these programs and services profoundly enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities by helping them develop more self sufficiency, and by enabling them to experience the accomplishment and connectedness that living, working, and engaging in one’s own community provides. Many of our clients come to us with little more than the clothes on their backs. Roundup Fellowship provides supports that include, but are not limited to food, shelter, clothing, educational supplies, direct client care, transportation, medical supervision, therapeutic recreational activities, behavior management, and individual skill programming. We help teach, support, and provide opportunities that allow the children and adults in our care to become part of their community. Building coping skills and working towards decreasing harmful behaviors over the short term, while also concentrating on life skills, is our approach for success. Our programs and services are funded through governmental sources, not fees, and supported through corporate donations, individuals and grants.
